This is a list of amazing brunch places you need to visit in San Juan, Puerto Rico. By no means is this a comprehensive list, by no means are these the only brunch places you should go to. These are just the ones I have personally visited and must exhort others to do so as well. So, here are 8 brunch places to visit in San Juan.
1. Abracadabra, Santurce

This is probably the most well-known brunch place in San Juan. This extraordinary place has a tiny theater inside of it, as occasionally it hosts plays, live music, and entertainment for children, making it the environment super lively and welcoming. The eclectic place has an open kitchen, allowing you to see how your food is prepared. A good idea considering some people might want to see that process as they taste the food in their plate and gasp with disbelief at how good it tastes. French toasts, breakfast sandwiches, waffles, pancakes, all the classics but with a twist, a magical one. Their Magic Brunch is served every weekend Saturday and Sunday from 9:00am-3:00pm.
2. Café Marquesa, Santurce

This is a small and cozy brunch place that is a must visit because of their breakfast burger and coffee. The burger is huge which comes with an egg on top and the coffee is delicious. They also have an interesting rendition of pancakes: red velvet flavored. The restaurant has a bar inside so if you're feeling boozy, ask the bartender for a drink so he can mix up something funky. The aesthetics are lovely of course because it is located in none other than La Calle Loiza, this blogger is a clear fan of this street. Quirky, fun and lively, the more brunch places around this area are the better. You can sit outside and enjoy a nice view of the local hipsters wandering about as you enjoy a nice breakfast burger.
3. Tía, Guaynabo

This is possibly one of the most aesthetically pleasing places you'll ever visit. The cutest decorations fill the space and its elaborate lunch and breakfast options will floor you. There will be plenty of opportunity for you to take pics for the gram, so make sure to bring a camera, or just your iPhone. They also have a variety of natural juices along with really good coffee. Also, the owner is a woman who owns other ventures as well, so be mindful of the fact that you are supporting a local Puerto Rican woman-owned business. Keep in mind the portions are pretty small, so if you're looking for a big wholesome brunch you won't find it here. You will find, however a photoshoot in every single table because every corner of this place is beautiful, including the food they serve.
4. Madeline's, San Juan

This brunch place will make you feel like you are in Paris. It is located right next to a beauty salon, if you're feeling like a makeover, or simple nail day, you can have yourself a day with some delicious brunch and a nail appointment right after. The menu is exquisite, including yummy sliders, delicious breakfast sandwiches, and amazing waffles. The good thing about this place is that the portion size is perfect, not too much, not too little. You will get full though. The location is a weird one so keep in mind that it is inside a shopping center when you're looking for it. Maybe roll your window down and try to find it with your nose.
5. Bistro Café, Isla Verde

Holy brunch does this place serve a lot! Definitely consider coming to this place with a friend whom you can share a plate with because the amount of food they put in one plate is ridiculous! You can choose between waffles and eggs, or pancakes and eggs, or waffles and pancakes! It's up to you! This place is delicious but do keep in mind that it is on the pricier side of things. Also keep in mind that the wait will take a while! It is a popular place so know that it will be jam packed and service will not be flash speed, but the wait is well worth it!
6. Bar Gitano, Condado

Ever had a Spanish brunch? Well, this is the place to try it! influenced by Spanish food, this place will have you craving patatas bravas for the rest of your days. Heavy and whole hearted food is what you'll find here. Their plates are big, and mostly contain a lot of meat, so keep that in mind if you happen to be a vegetarian or vegan. They don't only have brunch, they also have a bar where they usually play games in which the Spanish soccer team is playing, hence all the Spanish soccer team decoration hung all around the restaurant. This is a fun place to eat at because it transports you to Spain!
7. Musa, Santurce

The face of utter shock I had when I looked at the prices for the food in this place was photo-worthy. I had never had such yummy tasting food and payed such a low price for it. The food was delicious, the menu is extensive with plenty of innovative options. It is brunch with a twist, mixing the old with the new. In each dish you have a salty and a sweet so all those cravings can be gone! Not only is the food amazing and cheap, but there is live music playing while you enjoy your brunch! The atmosphere is great, the tones inside are purple, gold, and violet, giving the place a cool, hippy and edgy vibe.
8. La Wafflera, Viejo San Juan

Lastly we have La Wafflera, The Waffler in English. The name says it all. Here you can find a variety of artisanal waffles, everything from salty to sweet. Pizza waffles, waffles with salmon, waffles with bacon, or even roast beef! All the way to waffles with s'mores and creme brûlée. Perfect for a date to order a few and share! Located in the beautiful city of Old San Juan, it is a perfect opportunity to have a really yummy breakfast and then explore what the magical city has to offer. Of course here you can also enjoy really great coffee, tea, and beautiful scenery.
